CLASS® 2nd Edition Pre-K-3rd Educator Intro to Interactions Training

Course Number
2EEIIT-VIRTUAL-07062025
Overview

This training is designed to prepare you for CLASS observations or CLASS-aligned professional development. During the course's four modules, you will explore the life-changing power of interactions, the CLASS system, what to expect from CLASS observations, and how to use the CLASS system to inform and improve your interactions in the classroom.

The CLASS training experience is informative and interactive, using a combination of lectures, small group discussions, partner activities, and individual reflections to deepen your CLASS knowledge.

Understanding the CLASS system can be challenging. Be patient and know that you will build on both your current understanding of classroom interactions and your goals for the children in your care. Throughout this journey, we promise that you will walk away with a deeper understanding of the many things you are already doing to support the children you work with each day, and at least a few ideas for new ways to increase your impact.

Objective
  • By the end of this training, you will be able to do the following:

    • Describe the impact that intentional interactions have on children’s ability to thrive.
    • Describe the core skills that children need to thrive, and how those skills support children’s learning and development.
    • Describe the CLASS system.
    • Define key classroom interactions at the dimension level.
    • Describe the CLASS tool’s role in a system for supporting professional development and growth.
    • Describe a variety of typical observer behaviors from the educator’s perspective.
    • Describe how educators can identify and analyze moments of effectiveness to improve their interactions in the classroom.
    • Identify specific uses for the dimensions guide.
    •  Plan ways to expand on your moments of effectiveness.
