Overview

This session in the trauma-responsive care series, will begin with exploring a variety of trauma-responsive caregiving strategies-from building secure and responsive relationships and attachment, to creating trauma-responsive routines, trauma-responsive environments for babies and toddlers and the importance of play.  Participants will explore in depth the importance of responsive and nurturing strategies and practices.  They will explore how to create trauma-sensitive environments.  And they will examine how play and other trauma-responsive practices and strategies can support babies and toddlers.

This course meets criteria for Infant/Toddler specific training required by NM Childcare licensing.
Objective
  • Discuss how relationships are primary strategy for providing trauma-responsive care.
  • Examine how to create environments that are trauma-sensitive.
  • Examine trauma-responsive and sensitive caregiving and teaching practices for babies and toddlers.
  • Explore how play can be healing and therapeutic for children.
